PRITHVIRAJ RASO IN PDF

Besides the Muslim accounts of Battles of Tarain, he has been mentioned in several medieval kavya s epic poems by Hindu and Jain authors. These texts contain eulogistic descriptions, and are, therefore, not entirely reliable. However, it is full of exaggerated accounts many of which are worthless for the purposes of history. These were composed centuries after his death, and contain exaggerations and anachronistic anecdotes. While the work was completed in CE, the part that mentions Prithviraj was written around CE. For example, the Sanskrit poem anthology Sharngadhara-paddhati contains a verse praising him, and the Kanhadade Prabandha mentions him as an earlier incarnation of the Jalore Chahamana king Viramade.

However, some scholars still believe that Chand Bardai was a historical court poet of Prithviraj, and he composed a text that forms the basis of the present version of Prithviraj Raso. This manuscript contains the shortest recension of the text, and its language is more archaic than the one found in the other 17th century manuscripts. This suggests that the shortest recension most probably composed sometime before , towards the end of the 16th century. This theory is based on the fact that two narratives written during c.
